Using Education to Combat Improper Care for Rabbits
All too often I am faced with the situation of dealing with people who do not know how to properly care for their rabbit. Most recently I was alerted of a family who purchased 2 baby rabbits for their 8 year old child. The rabbits were being housed in a small cage in the bedroom of the child. To the families surprise (not mine), one of the rabbits died. There is no excuse for a baby bunny to die. Cases like this one can be prevented with proper education. Hay, proper pellets, fresh water, love, exercise, and medical care are all critical for the well being of any animal, but especially a baby bunny.

I know exactly what you mean!! Especially when I walk into my local livestock feed stores to buy my horse her feed I find poor rabbits improperly cared for, small cages, no mental stimulation, no hay, just pellets. There was one bun that was EXTREMELY fat and it was just months old. Also, my friend just saved a rabbit from a misinformed family. They received the rabbit as a prize at a carnival (so upsetting to me) and she took it in and instantly came to me asking for advice on caring for rabbits as she had no idea, she never had a rabbit before. I give her credit for asking for the right kind of care before the rabbit came to her house so she was educated enough and ready for the arrival of her 1 month old bun.
